  1. Hey Leslie,
Great job on your PBL lesson plan. I was able to easily follow your clearly stated objectives and your instructions for your class. i like the fact that you gave your students the freedom to choose which method they wanted to use for their project to demonstrate their knowledge of mitosis and mieosis. I also thought it was a great idea to include time for them to debate why their choice was the best method. Doing a debate like this can really help to "fire up" the kids about their projects. It really looks like you have experience with this. Great job!

  2. Thanks so much Allison! I was lucky that this lesson plan coincided with the four day lesson plan in my other class and I was able to incorporate this into it! I had a great time working on it, and have had a couple of inspirational ideas since I posted it :)

  3. I do not know enough to critique this plan. Will it involve the students in doing their own research. Will the activity of "visually representing the process of Mitosis and Meiosis sufficient to keep the students involved and interested?

  4. Visually representing Mitosis and Meiosis will take a great deal of time, I was actually considering paring the assignment down to either Mitosis or Meiosis. For each cellular "step" there are several things going on within the interior and exterior of the cell. For this assignment, I would actually accept "donut mitosis"...google it, it looks like so much fun...and delicious!!
